The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has dismissed media reports that it incurred a GH¢3 billion loss in its first year of operations.
A statement issued by the Media Relations Unit of the Board on Monday urged the public to treat the reports with the contempt they deserve.
According to the statement, the reports, as published by Asaase Radio, are “entirely false and deliberately contrived to undermine the successes and significant contribution of the GoldBod to the revitalization of Ghana’s economy”.
“Contrary to the mischievous claims contained in the said publication, the GoldBod has been making significant surpluses/profit since its establishment,” it said.
“Quarterly financial statements of the GoldBod which will soon be published on the official website of the statutory corporation will bear this fact out.”
The firm called on the management of the radio station to retract the render an unqualified apology to the public “for such misleading and unethical publication”.
