The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has called on the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) of the Ghana Police Service to look into an operation that led to the alleged arrest of the Kwahuhene, Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng II, and Kwahuhemaa Nana Adwoa Gyemfua III.
Reason for the operation is unknown but armed officers were said to have stormed Kwahu Abene to effect the arrest.
The incident happened in the wee hours of Monday, November 17.
“The Inspector-General of Police has directed the release of the Queen Mother of Kwahu, following an operation by some officers this morning,” a statement on the official Facebook page of the Service said.
“The IGP has further directed the Police Professional Standards Bureau to conduct investigation into the circumstances surrounding the operation and any officers found culpable sanctioned.”
According to the statement, security has been intensified in and around Kwahu following the Monday dawn incident “to ensure security and safety of all persons”.
