Ghana’s Minister for Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has commended health workers nationwide for their dedication and resilience in his end-of-year message, pledging renewed focus on strengthening the country’s health system.
In a statement addressed to Ghanaians and healthcare professionals, the Minister expressed appreciation to doctors, nurses, midwives, allied health staff, administrators and frontline workers for their continued service under challenging conditions. He described their commitment as the backbone of Ghana’s healthcare delivery, noting that their efforts had saved lives and brought hope to families across the country.
Mr Akandoh also thanked traditional authorities, development partners, civil society organisations and other stakeholders for supporting the work of the Ministry of Health throughout the year.
Reflecting on 2025, the Minister said the year had been marked by resilience and renewed commitment to improving access to quality healthcare, strengthening health financing and prioritising the welfare of the health workforce. Despite difficulties, he said the collective resolve of stakeholders had remained strong.
The Minister reaffirmed government’s commitment to addressing concerns raised by health workers, including conditions of service, logistics and outstanding obligations. He said the Ministry would continue to engage relevant institutions to resolve these issues in a fair and sustainable manner.
Looking ahead, Mr Akandoh said the Ministry would intensify efforts to expand health infrastructure, improve service delivery, strengthen preventive healthcare and advance equitable and affordable healthcare for all Ghanaians.
He urged citizens to adopt healthy lifestyles and support national health programmes, wishing the nation a peaceful end to the year and a healthy, prosperous New Year.
