Black Stars captain Andre Dede Ayew has signed a new deal with Dutch Eredivisie side NAC Breda after months of training without a club.
The deal was signed after Ayew, 36, completed his medicals on Tuesday.
NAC Breda are currently bottom of the 2025/26 Eredivisie, having amassed just 13 points from 17 games.
The Ghanaian is expected to help Carl Hoefkens’ side’s fight for survival.
“Andre is eager to help NAC in their fight for survival,” Technical Director Peter Maas said.
“That’s become very clear from our conversations. We’re currently in a difficult position with NAC. Ayew has also faced some tough times in his career. He’s a true sportsman who takes good care of himself.
“We believe that with his experience and specific qualities, he can be of value to NAC right now.”
On his part, Dede Ayew admitted he enjoys challenges.
“I find that here at NAC. I want to do everything I can to help the club and my teammates. We’re in a situation where staying in the Eredevisie is the only thing that matters.
“The mental aspect is perhaps the most important thing in this situation. Together with out supporters, we must fight this battle head-on in the second half of the season.”
Ayew iis expected to join the club as they resume training on Friday, January 2.
Ayew last played in a competitive league in the French Ligue 1 for Le Havre in the 2024/25 season.
His club career has seen him play for top sides such as Olympique Marseille, Fenerbahce, West Ham United and Al Sadd in Qatar.
