Manchester United have sacked Manager Ruben Amorim.
The decision comes barely 24 hours after the side were held to a 1-1 draw by Leeds Uinited.
Siitting sixth in the Premier League with 31 points, 17 behind leaders Arsenal, the club said the decision taken is timely.
Management said “it is the right time to make a change”.
“This will give the team the best opportunity of the highest possible Premier League finish,” added the statement on Monday, January 5.
The club expressed gratitude to the Portuguese “for his contribution to the club and wishes him we’ll for the future”.
Former midfielder Darren Fletcher is expected to take charge of the team on Wednesday, when they play Burnley.
The decision comes a couple of days after rivals Chelsea also offloaded Enzo Maresca as Manager.
