Ghanaian Afro-pop, Afrobeat and Highlife musician Sister Afia has dismissed claims circulating on social media that she personally invited a young Tracy Shay, onto the stage during her recent concert.
In a press statement shared on her official Facebook page, the singer said she had taken note of videos, stories and commentaries suggesting she was responsible for the woman’s appearance on stage. She categorically denied the allegation, stating that she had no knowledge of how or when Tracy Shay accessed the stage.
“I wish to clearly state that I have no knowledge of how or when she got onto the stage, and I did not personally invite her to do so,” Sister Afia wrote.
The musician explained that her immediate priority is the overall success of her 10th anniversary celebration, which marked a major milestone in her music career. She described the event as historic and said she is currently engaged in meetings with her management and team to review all aspects of the concert.
Sister Afia said a comprehensive response addressing the controversy would be issued at the appropriate time, following internal discussions.
She also expressed gratitude to her fans, supporters, colleagues, sponsors and the general public for the strong show of love during the anniversary celebration.
“Your encouragement means everything to me,” she added, while urging the public to remain patient as the matter is reviewed.
