The Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has assured the Ga Mantse, Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, that Ghanaian languages, including Ga and Dangme, will be integrated into future digital and artificial intelligence-driven education platforms.
Speaking during an engagement with the Ga Mantse, Hon Iddrisu stressed that language is central to culture, identity and effective learning. He said that although English remains Ghana’s official language, indigenous languages must be actively promoted, particularly at the early stages of education, to improve comprehension and preserve cultural heritage.
The minister disclosed that plans are underway to expand AI language coverage to all 12 indigenous languages approved by the Ghana Education Service, including through global digital initiatives such as Google’s Gemini platform. He added that a National Indigenous Languages Conference would soon be convened to bring together educators, technologists and cultural stakeholders to advance the agenda.

Hon Iddrisu also announced a donation of GH¢100,000 to the Ga Mantse Educational Fund to support education and youth development within the traditional area. He commended Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II for his sustained efforts to promote education and empower young people.
The initiative forms part of broader government efforts to modernise education while safeguarding Ghana’s linguistic and cultural diversity.
