The Ghana Police Service has arrested five suspects in connection with a violent robbery attack carried out in December 2025 at Nkaseim in the Ahafo Region, police said.
The attack occurred on Dec. 2, 2025, when armed assailants blocked the Goaso–Tepa road and launched coordinated raids on the Nkaseim Police Station, the Adwumapa Cocoa Buying Company, the Kobby Gold Buying Company and the Asutifi Rural Bank area. During the operation, the robbers seized two AK-47 rifles and made away with cash, including GH¢14,000 from the cocoa buying company and GH¢12,000 from the gold buying firm. An employee of the Adwumapa Cocoa Buying Company was shot and injured.
Police said sustained intelligence-led operations and forensic investigations led to the first arrest on Jan. 16, 2026, when Mutar Kofi, 35, a commercial tricycle rider, was picked up at a location known as “Ata ne Ata” near Nkaseim. He reportedly admitted involvement in the robbery.
Subsequent investigations resulted in the arrest of Mahamadu Sagio, 45, at Nkaseim; Shaibu Issah Jallo, also known as Jibo, 28, at Chereponi; and Abdul Suleman, 40, at Tanga near Karaga in the Northern Region. A fifth suspect, Bukari Sulley, alias Tailor, 25, a trader at Alaba in Kumasi, was arrested on Jan. 25, 2026.
Police said efforts have been intensified to arrest three remaining suspects, Dauda, Mohammed Ali and Hoyeefi, identified as the gang leader, who is believed to be in possession of the stolen rifles and other firearms used in the attack.
