The President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, has recounted the enjoyment of American YouTube streamer IShowSpeed during a visit to a shea butter museum in northern Ghana, suggesting the young man is likely to return.
Speaking at the official launch of the SheaPark Resource Hub at the Wa Naa’s Palace on Saturday, Jan 31, 2026, President Mahama shared a personal anecdote, noting that his children had shown him a video of IShowSpeed receiving a shea butter massage.
“I saw him lying down while about ten girls applied shea butter,” the President said. “The way he was enjoying it, he opened his mouth as if he couldn’t breathe. That guy, I’m sure he’ll come back for more.”
The SheaPark Resource Hub, inaugurated the same day, is a flagship initiative aimed at revitalising the Upper West Region’s economy through industrialisation and value addition within the shea sector. The project positions the region as a key contributor to Ghana’s agro-industrial transformation agenda.
President Mahama highlighted the cultural significance of shea butter and traditional practices, drawing connections between the museum experience and local heritage, and emphasising the potential for tourism and economic growth in the region.
