The Energy Commission of Ghana has appointed Adwoa Serwa Bondzie as Acting Executive Secretary, entrusting the seasoned energy and business strategist with oversight of the country’s power and regulatory landscape, the Commission announced Wednesday.

Bondzie succeeds Ing. Mrs Eunice Biritwum and brings more than 15 years of experience spanning business development, energy transition and strategic management. The Commission said her record of leading innovation-driven initiatives and strengthening public service delivery positioned her to guide the institution through evolving energy demands and sustainability priorities.

She previously pioneered the first Trading Desk at the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST), where she designed a fuel-trading system credited with generating 20 million dollars in profit within two years. The initiative, officials said, set a benchmark for operational efficiency in Ghana’s downstream petroleum sector.

Bondzie also led a major expansion of Ghana’s strategic petroleum reserves from four to 12 weeks between 2014 and 2016, a move widely regarded as strengthening national energy security. Her work earned her the BOST Leadership and Dedication Award in 2015. Earlier in her career, she managed multi-million-dollar engineering projects for TechInsights Canada, delivering complex assignments on schedule and to international quality standards.

She holds a Master of Science in Public Policy from the University of Bath, an MBA in International Business and Strategy from Henley Business School, a Bachelor of Science in Information and Communication Technology from GIMPA, and a Graduate Diploma in Project Management from Algonquin College.

The Commission described Bondzie as committed to aligning corporate strategy with national development priorities, particularly in advancing sustainable energy solutions that support economic growth and environmental protection. She is also known for mentoring young professionals and advocating greater participation of women in technology and energy.

The Energy Commission urged stakeholders to extend full cooperation to Bondzie to ensure a successful tenure.
