The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Honourable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP), has arrived in Burkina Faso for a two-day official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and deepening cooperation between the two neighbouring countries.

Upon arrival, Minister Ablakwa was warmly received by his Burkinabè counterpart, His Excellency Karamoko Jean-Marie Traoré, alongside the Ghanaian Ambassador to Burkina Faso, His Excellency Kenneth Akibate.

The visit focuses on enhancing security cooperation, intensifying political consultations, and signing strategic agreements to consolidate relations between Ghana and Burkina Faso, particularly in response to evolving regional security challenges.

Prior to departing Accra, Minister Ablakwa visited the 37 Military Hospital to express solidarity with Ghanaian survivors of the February 14th terrorist attack in Titao, northern Burkina Faso. The injured traders were airlifted to Ghana by the Ghana Air Force and are currently receiving medical care.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasised that the visit underscores Ghana’s commitment to regional peace and stability, and to protecting the welfare of its citizens abroad. Discussions during the visit are expected to further strengthen collaborative measures on security, trade, and diplomatic engagement between the two West African neighbours.

Minister Ablakwa’s itinerary includes bilateral meetings with key officials and consultations aimed at advancing both countries’ shared strategic interests.
