President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Baba Sadiq Abdulai Abu as Ghana’s High Commissioner-designate to Nigeria, replacing Baba Jamal Mohammed Ahmed.
Baba Jamal had to be recalled by the President following his involvement in the Ayawaso East primaries of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). His appointment was revoked by the President following widespread allegations of vote buying.
On Sunday, March 1, President Mahama announced Baba Sadiq, who contested the 2024 parliamentary elections in the Okaikwei Central Constituency, as Baba Jamal’s replacement.
He was congratulated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs in a post on Facebook.
“Congratulations, Baba Sadiq on your well-deserved appointment by President Mahama as High Commissioner designate to the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa wrote.
“I have no doubt you will hold aloft Ghana’s flag and make the youth of our continent proud,” he added.
