President John Dramani Mahama will undertake a strategic working visit to the Republic of Korea from Tuesday, March 10 to Friday, March 14.
As a result, the President is scheduled to depart from Accra on Sunday to mark the beginning of the five-day mission.
In a statement issued by the Minister of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, on Sunday, March 8, the visit is aimed at deepening diplomatic ties and exploring industrial synergies between the two nations.
According to the statement issued by the Minister, the visit will be anchored by high-level political dialogue.
President Mahama is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with the President of the Republic of Korea, Lee Jae Myung to discuss matters of mutual interest.
Furthering this legislative outreach, the President will also meet with the Speaker of the Korean National Assembly, Woo Won-shik.
The visit will also highlight South Korea’s leadership in global industry and education.
President Mahama will travel to the Hyundai Shipyard in Ulsan to “take part in a ship-naming ceremony,” a move that underscores the maritime cooperation between Ghana and Korea.
He is set to “deliver a speech at a Conferment Ceremony” at the prestigious Yonsei University, engaging with the country’s academic community.
Minister Kwakye Ofosu noted that the trip also serves a vital economic purpose.
President Mahama will host a “dinner meeting with Chief Executives and business owners” to pitch investment opportunities within the Ghanaian economy.
Finally, the President will dedicate time to an evening with Ghanaians living, studying, and working in South Korea.
This engagement is intended to foster a sense of community and keep the diaspora informed of developments back home.
