Government has announced that Friday, March 20 and Monday, March 23 will be observed as public holidays to mark Eid-ul-Fitr and Shaqq Days respectively.
Share Day would have been celebrated on Saturday, March 21 but because it falls on a weekend, the President of Ghana has, by Executive Instrument (E.I), declared Monday, 23rd March 2026 as the day of celebration.
This is in accordance with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act (Act 601), as amended.
In a press statement issued by the Minister of the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, the general public has been urged to observe these dates as statutory public holidays throughout the country.
The holidays celebrate a significant Islamic festival marking the end of Ramadan.
