President John Dramani Mahama has nominated five persons to the Fiscal Council in pursuant to Section 11D of the Public Financial Management Act, 2016.
Among these is a former Governor of the Bank of Ghana Dr Henry Akpenamawu Kofi Wampah, who represents expertise from the Central Bank.
The other members are Professor Patrick Opoku Asuming, who represents academia, Leslie Dwight Mensah, who represents civil society, and Kweku Bedu-Addo, a former public policy expert from the Ministry of Finance.
Nominated as Chairperson is Dr Emmanuel Oteng Kumah.
“The Fiscal Council will work to strengthen financial oversight, fiscal prudence and shape sound decision making in public financial management,” a communication issued by the Minister of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofisu, said.
