The Ghana Shippers’ Authority (GSA) has initiated specific interventions to deliver shipper services as a commitment to the 24-hour economic policy of government.
In a letter sighted by NewsfileGH, the Authority underscored its strategic role in regulating commercial shipping and logistics service providers in accordance with its act.
It insisted that the success of the 24-hour economy depends not only on extended operational hours but also on the efficiency, responsiveness and coordination of institutions responsible for trade facilitation and logistics services.
As a result, the Authority has implemented specific interventions including the Shippers App, night-time monitoring of port operations, and strengthening of advocacy in order to ensure a smooth 24-hour operation.
“These interventions are essential because excessive logistics costs and operational inefficiencies undermine the competitiveness of Ghana’s ports and weaken the effectiveness of a 24-hour economy framework,” the letter stated.
It also conceded challenges in the effort to running effectively day and night.
“But these are surmountable challenges that do not hinder the Authority’s determined quest to contribute to the 24-Hour Economy Policy.”
