The Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, has revealed that forensic investigations point to high-profile persons in society funding the spread of false news by Tik Toker Ghana Jollof and her associates.
“Forensic analysis of voices and other details of thorough investigations of her abetting the various acts have been retrieved from her phone records and transcripts made of them, all of which will be tendered in evidence in court,” she said about Salomey Bafoh Awiti, who was arrested and arraigned before court on Thursday for abetment of crime.
A nursing officer and mother of four, Salomey Bafoh Awiti was picked up in Techiman and brought to Adenta, where she was remanded into police custody.
Updating the press on the case on Friday, September 18, COP Yaako Donkor confirmed that there was a financial arrangement between UK-based Ghana Jollof and the suspect.
“Investigations further revealed financial arrangements between the two persons whereby Barbara Asantewaa Kodua, while domiciled in the United Kingdom, remitted monies to Salomey Awiti Bafoh in Ghana in support of these activities.
“Salomey Awiti Bafoh subsequently distributed portions of those funds to other persons involved in the redistribution and circulation of videos produced by Barbara Asantewaa Kodua through various social media platforms.”
She further said the investigations established that some persons are behind the “illicit” social media activities of Barbara Asantewaa Kodua financially.
COP Yaako Donkor says Salomey Bafoh Awiti will reappear on Wednesday, September 30.
