A group of professionals in the built environment sector, has thrown its full support behind the appointment of Professor Anthony Owusu-Ansah, as the Acting Executive Secretary of the Lands Commission.
The group described the appointment as both timely and well-suited for the strategic direction of the Lands Commission, praising Prof. Owusu-Ansah as a “decent, disciplined, and astute professional.”
They expressed disappointment over attempts by some unnamed individuals to label the academic as a sympathizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), calling such efforts “unfortunate and misleading.”
“Professor Owusu-Ansah is known for his unwavering commitment to professional excellence and national development, not political partisanship,” the group stated. “Throughout his career as a lecturer, particularly at GIMPA and KNUST, he has prioritized the academic and professional growth of his students.”
Former and current students alike, have celebrated news of his appointment, expressing confidence that his leadership will bring significant benefits to the country through the Lands Commission.
The group also criticized the politicization of public appointments, urging Ghanaians to rise above party lines in matters of national interest. “It is misguided to judge professionals based on their associations or perceived political leanings.
“ The President himself has consistently called for civility in public discourse and has discouraged political enmity.”
In conclusion, the group, called on all well-meaning Ghanaians to rally behind Prof. Owusu-Ansah and give him the support needed to succeed in his new role. “Let us not allow politics to erode the integrity of our institutions by targeting competent individuals who are ready to serve.”
