The ten ministerial nominees of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to head the country’s regions will begin facing the Appointments Committee of Parliament from today, Monday, February 13.
The vetting of the ten is expected to end on Wednesday, February 15.
To begin the process will be Western Region Minister-designate Dr Kwaku Owusu Afriyie, a popular cocoa farmer and a former minister of state.
He will be followed by Simon Osei-Mensah, the Ashanti Region Minister-designate.
Eric Kwakye Darfour, Member of Parliament for Nkawkaw Constituency, will follow next while Former Greater Accra Region Minister Ishmael Ashitey, who is also the Region’s Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), will cap the day.
On Tuesday, Volta, Upper West and Upper East regions will have their potential ministers in the hot seat.
Dr Archibald Letsa, the Chief Executive Officer of AVL Holdings Ghana, will begin it all, representing the Volta Region, followed by Alhassan Suleiman and Rockson Bukari for the Upper West and Upper East respectively.
Wednesday will see Brong Ahafo Chairman of the NPP Kwaku Asoma Cheremeh, whose nomination has been rejected by the Sunyani Traditional Council, facing the Committee.
Next will be Kwamena Duncan, another regional party executive, who will be vetted for the Central Region while Northern Region’s Salifu Sa-eed will be the last of the ministerial nominees to be vetted.
