The jungle training school of the Ghana Armed Forces in Akim-Achiase in the Eastern Region has not recorded any positive coronavirus case, Chief Instructor of the school, Major Bright Basuglo, has revealed.
He said several covid-19 protocols put in place by the Jungle Warfare School has ensured personnel were do not get the deadly virus which has affected more than 10,000 people and killed over 40 of them in Ghana.
Major Basuglo said Veronica buckets have been placed in front of every department within the school, while personnel have been encouraged to frequently use alcohol-based hand sanitisers, practice physical distancing.
They are also enforcing the mandatory wearing of nose masks by everyone.
He said this Wednesday during the disinfection and fumigation of the facility by Zoomlion Ghana Limited as part of measures by the government to stop the spread of the virus.
“We will continue to strictly adhere to all the Covid-19 preventive protocols to enable us stay healthy to contribute our quota to the nation’s fight against this unseen enemy,” Maj. Basuglo said.
He applauded the efforts of the Military High Command and Zoomlion Ghana Limited for the exercise.
The Chief Instructor observed that the disinfection exercise will go a long way to protect officers and students at the training school, also known as the Seth Anthony Barracks, against the virus.
Currently the school with a staff strength of 100, he said was training 69 personnel.
Facilities disinfected included classrooms, offices, headquarters building, guard posts and the barracks.
For her part, the Director of Communications and Corporate Affairs, Zoomlion Ghana Limited revealed that the exercise was being done simultaneously in all military installations and facilitates across the country.
According to her, the disinfection of military facilities will last for a week.
She added that her outfit had already disinfected a small military unit in Koforidua.
Meanwhile, she said Zoomlion will be continuing with the disinfection of churches, mosques and other institutions across the country.
