The Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority (NYA), Osman Ayariga, has appealed to renowned Ghanaian digital influencer Wode Maya to serve as an ambassador for the NYA’s RED MEANS STOP campaign, aimed at combating drug abuse among young people.
The invitation was extended during the opening of the 2026 International Youth Empowerment Summit (iYES) held at the UPSA Auditorium.
Addressing summit participants, Mr Ayariga said, “We are asking Wode Maya to join us as a RED MEANS STOP ambassador because of the positive influence he wields among youth, not just in Ghana but across Africa and the world. His voice, reach, and credibility can help amplify the message that drug abuse is a threat to our future.”
He highlighted the importance of the campaign, noting that it is designed to engage young people in promoting healthy lifestyles and discouraging substance abuse.
“The RED MEANS STOP campaign is about more than awareness. It is about creating a movement where young people take responsibility for their choices, protect their health, and focus on building productive lives,” he said.
Mr Ayariga further encouraged all participants at the summit to become active advocates for the initiative.
“We want every young person here to understand that drugs do not just stop a moment—they can stop dreams, ambitions, and entire futures. Our goal is to educate, empower, and inspire youth to say no before it’s too late.”
He concluded by emphasising the collective role of leaders and influencers in shaping the next generation.
“With Wode Maya’s support, along with other youth leaders and ambassadors, we can create a culture where young Ghanaians are aware, informed, and empowered to live responsibly. Together, we can stop drug abuse before it stops us,” he said.
