The Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has embarked on a stakeholder engagement tour of the Western North Region as part of his Christmas activities, reaffirming government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery.
On the first day of the tour, the minister held meetings with a broad range of stakeholders, including security service commanders, traditional authorities, political party representatives, Members of Parliament and heads of government agencies. The engagements took place in Bibiani, Sefwi Wiawso, Asawinso and Bodi.
Addressing participants, Mr Akandoh announced the commencement of construction works on a new Regional Hospital for the Western North Region. He said the project would significantly enhance access to quality healthcare and improve service delivery for residents, who have long faced challenges accessing specialised medical care.
The minister stressed that the development of the health sector remains a top priority for President John Dramani Mahama, noting that the President has demonstrated strong political will by providing the necessary support to expand and upgrade health infrastructure nationwide.
He said the new hospital forms part of broader efforts to reduce regional disparities in healthcare and ensure that all Ghanaians, regardless of location, receive timely and efficient medical services.
Stakeholders welcomed the minister’s visit and expressed appreciation for his engagement. Many commended his commitment to the development of the Western North Region, particularly his focus on improving healthcare infrastructure and strengthening collaboration with local leaders to address pressing health needs.
