President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has made changes to his government after years of calls to reshuffle his ministers in the face of economic downturn.
Newstitbits.com is reliably informed that the presidency has subsequently communicated to parliament names of persons nominated by the president for the various ministerial portfolios.
Some of the nominees including Mr. K.T. Hammond and Stephen Asamoah Boateng are expected to be vetted by Parliament’s Appointments Committee for approval by the House.
The proposed ministers are:
Hon Kobina Tahiru Hammond – Minister for Trade and Industry
Hon Bryan Acheampong – Minister for Food and Agriculture
Hon Stephen Asamoah Boateng – Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs
Hon Mohammed Amin Adam – Minister of State in the Finance Ministry
Hon Osei Bonsu Amoah – Minister of State for Local Government
Hon Herbert Krapah – Deputy Minister for Energy
Hon Dr Stephen Amoah – Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry
The appointments of KT. Hommond and Bryan Acheampong became necessary following the resignation of Mr. Alan Kyerematen, and Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto as the Ministers for Trade and Industry, and Food and Agriculture respectively in January to pursue their presidential ambition.
Mr. Asamoah Boateng on the other hand replaces Mr. Ebenezer Kojo Kum who resigned as the Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs last week due to what many described as ill health.
