Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia won the New Patriotic Party’s nomination to be its 2028 Presidential Candidate after Saturday’s primaries. Dr. Bawumia polled 110,643 votes, representing 56.48% of the total valid votes to claim victory in a fierce contest involving three strong forces. His closest competitors, Kennedy Agyapong and Dr. Bryan Acheampong got 46,554 and 36,303, representing 23.8% and 18.3% respectively. President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in time for the 2026 World Governments Summit (WGS). President Mahama left Ghana on Sunday following a special invitation of the Ruler of UAE, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed al Nahyan. He touched down in Dubai in a special aircraft arranged by Sheikh al Nahyan. Accompanied by First Lady, Lordina Mahama, President Mahama is expected to participate in the WGS, which begins on Monday and ends on Wednesday, February 4. Just after the Summit, the President will travel to Zambia for a three-day state visit.
