Two members of the Majority in Parliament have sponsored a Private Member’s Bill to ensure that the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) set up in 2017 is abolished. “The Office of the Special Prosecutor was established in 2017 as a specialised independent body to focus on corruption and corruption-related offences,” the memorandum on the new bill read in part. “However, operational experience since the establishment of the Office of the Special Prosecutor has revealed persistent challenges, including the duplication of constitutional prosecutorial functions of the Office of the Special Prosecutor and the Attorney-General, institutional friction and jurisdictional overlap resulting…
The Africa Policy Lens (APL) has warned of a huge financial loss to the state if the government goes ahead to reduce the agreed royalty rate of the lithium deal between Barari DV Ghana Limited and Ghana from 10% to 5%. The previous government, following a Cabinet approval to review royalty rates for Ghana’s lithium and associated minerals, reached a mutual agreement with Barari DV Ghana Limited, for an upward 10% royalty stake for Ghana – 5% extra royalty stake in the the main mining sector. However, the new Mahama government has now proposed a reduction of the 10% stake…

Ghana will parade an entirely locally-based squad for the friendly against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana. Head Coach of the Black Galaxies Kassim Mingle Ocansey released a 20-man squad for Tuesday’s encounter in Gauteng. Conspicuously missing from the squad is Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare, who has been a key member of the Black Stars proper. In post will be either Heart of Lions’ shot stopper Lawrence Osei or Medeama SC’s Felix Kyei, who until recently was also a member of the main Black Stars team. Among the defenders are Razak Simpson, Isaac Afful and Kamaradini Mamudu, who have had…
Eleven Nigerian military officers were briefly detained in Burkina Faso after their aircraft made an emergency landing in the country, Burkinabè security sources told the BBC. The Air Force C-130 aircraft entered Burkina Faso’s airspace on Monday without authorisation, according to the country’s Territorial Administration Minister Emile Zerbo. In a joint statement, the military governments of Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger said their prompt investigation confirmed the “violation of its airspace and the sovereignty of its member states”. But the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) said a technical problem meant the plane, which was en route to Portugal, had to land…
The Minority in Parliament has raised concerns on the floor following a letter of notice written by the Clerk to Parliament to the Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC). The letter, dated Thursday, December 4, 2025 and signed by Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, notified the Chair of the EC, Jean Mensa, on the vacancy of the Kpandai seat following a High Court ruling. A new wave of Ghanaians at home and abroad is redefining what it means to return. It’s no longer just about the December visit or nostalgic trip home; it’s about building, investing, and turning inherited land into a tangible legacy. And at the heart of this quiet revolution is an unlikely catalyst: a residential development in East Legon, called The Barracks, an initiative by Diaspora Homes Ghana Ltd. The Barracks Ghana is a carefully designed residential development currently under construction, timed to coincide with people returning to Ghana for the December season. This creates an ideal opportunity for individuals, families,…
The Minister for Roads and Highways, Governs Kwame Agbodza, has cautioned members of the newly inaugurated governing board of the Road Maintenance Trust Fund against mismanaging resources allocated to the institution. Addressing board members during their inaugural ceremony, he stressed that the fund exists solely for improving Ghana’s road network—not for personal benefit. “It is not a fund to fix your friends. It is not a fund to make your family happy. It is a fund to fix the roads in our country,” he warned. Agbodza stated that the ministry deliberately held back from spending the 2025 allocation until the…
