The Student Representative Council (SRC) of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) has declared a 10-day fasting and prayer service for the student body. In a notice dated Thursday, April 16, 2026, the SRC President, Kwame Ntiamoah Ntim, indicated that the fasting will begin from Monday, April 20 and end on Wednesday, April 29. “There will be a 30-minute prayer session held on Google Meet each day from 7:30pm to 8:00pm,” the notice announced, adding that the last day will be marked with a Prayer Walk on campus. Members of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) in the Adenta municipality have threatened not to resume work when school reopens until culprits of a recent attack on a colleague at Bethel Presby Junior High School are arrested. The incident is said to have happened on Wednesday, April 8. The Minority Chief Whip and Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has commissioned five water projects across communities in the constituency as part of efforts to improve access to clean water. The projects, located in Amanfro, Oparekrom, Djankrom East, Akwane Dobro and Papito, are expected to ease the burden on residents who have long faced challenges in accessing safe and reliable water sources. The National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) has arrested six Chinese nationals found actively engaged in illegal mining operations along the Nyaase River, a tributary of the Tano River, at Kunsu Gyaenkontabuo in the Ahafo Ano South-West District of the Ashanti Region. The operation also led to the recovery of two pump action guns, 102 cartridges, a vehicle, and Gh¢6,000 in cash, making it one of the most significant single-operation arrests of foreign nationals in recent NAIMOS enforcement history. Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has penned an appeal to judges of the country’s courts to be guided by the dictates of Article 296 of the 1992 Constitution.
