A four-member delegation from Spain have met the business community and the various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the Western Region to explore investment opportunities. The delegation is looking for investment opportunities in tourism and manufacturing while building a strong trade relationship with the Western Region and their home country, Spain. The Western Region Office of the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has resumed water supply to the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis from its Daboase Headworks in the Wassa East District after ten days of cut in supply. The cut in water supply was as a result of a cable blast, which affected the main transformer at the Daboase Treatment Plant. “On Monday, November 18, there was a cable blast. Inspire to Rise partnered has partnered a Ghanaian-German ICT organization, Grow Ghana, to organise ICT workshops at Nungua St. Peters Anglican 1 & 2 JHS School as well as Kanda Estate 1 Basic JHS School. The beneficiary pupils were trained in digital skills. They received training on the introduction of new application Raspberry Pi, its parts and functions of use. Cargill has announced a $13 million investment in the expansion of its cocoa processing site in Tema, Ghana to increase production capacity by 20 per cent. Cargill has also committed $3.4 million to Ghanaian community sustainability programmes and cocoa traceability efforts in Ghana. A 30-minute rainstorm has caused havoc at Somanya in the Eastern Region. The rainstorm begun Monday around 3:00pm with no warning signs and lasted for 30 minutes. An uprooted tree fell on the Somanya-Kpong Highway, making the road inaccessible hence a heavy vehicular traffic for hours. A storey-building housing the Barclays Bank and other offices had its roof ripped off. Vehicles belonging to staff of the Bank parked close to the building were badly affected. The Bank of Ghana has indicated its resolve to scrutinize compensation package policies of universal banks to ensure that remuneration for key management personnel including Chief Executive Officers are linked to the performance of the banks and quality of its assets. Government has been accused of showing lack of commitment in searching for one Emmanuel Essien, a fisheries observer, who went missing five months ago. The missing fisheries observer was tasked on July 5, 2019 by the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development to observe a Chinese vessel. He is said to be on board the vessel, Meng Xin 15, when it left for fishing. However, the vessel returned without this observer. The crew later reported that the observer was missing. The Ghana National Canoe Fishermen Council has called on government to immediately begin consultation with artisanal fishers before the selection of the specific months for the proposed 2020 closed season. Addressing a press conference in Accra, the Council with support from the Far Ban Bo (FBB) Project, funded by the European Union, noted the closed season should be implemented for all fleets at the same time rather than at different times. The Ghana Football Association has named former GFA Chairman, Lepowura MND Jawula as the new Chairman of a new seven-member Premier League Management Committee. The Vice Chairman of the Committee is Jesse Agyapong, a marketing consultant. The GFA has discarded the system which all Premier League clubs were represented on the Premier League Management Committee (formerly called Premier League Board).
