A high court in Malawi has ordered the government to allow Rastafarian students with dread locks to attend school. The order was given in a case filed by a schoolgirl who was denied admission to a primary school because of her dreadlocks, Malawian media reported. The case is ongoing. The schoolgirl had been told to cut off dreadlocks by the school’s management, according to Nyasa Times news website. The 1999-year group of old students of Nkwatia Senior High School, Nkwasco, has cut sod to construct a two-bedroom accommodation facility for teachers. The group says the move is part of the year group’s goal of supporting the school to climax 20 years since graduating from the school.
