The 2020 housing and population census is likely to be postponed, 3news.com can confirm. The exercise will be held at a later date yet-to-be determined. The exercise, which is held every decade, was originally scheduled for March. However, it is gong to be postponed indefinitely as a result of a switch from a traditional census to an electronic one. Thirty-four persons have been confirmed dead in a motor accident at Dompoase near Komenda in the Central Region. The gory accident, which occurred at around midnight on Monday, January 13 involved a Man Diesel bus with registration number GR 5704-18 – which is said to be travelling from Takoradi to Accra – and a Hyundai bus with registration number GN 3780-10 heading the in the opposite direction. The Technical University Teachers Association of Ghana (TUTAG) and the Technical University Senior Administrators of Ghana (TUSAAG) are yet to call off their strike actions despite an order to do so by the National Labour Commission (NLC). On Friday, January 10, the Commission met leadership of the two labour unions over their respective strike actions. Police have arrested four of the leaders of some trained teachers who have been picketing at the premises of the Ghana Education Service (GES) on Monday morning. The trained teachers are demanding postings, having completed their training as part of the 2016/2017 batch. But the action on Monday was deemed an infraction of the Public Order Act by the police.
