The Ghana Bar Association (GBA) has finally weighed into the recent happenings at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), condemning the action of the students. “We would urge the students to pursue their ambitions and education without violating the law,” a statement jointly signed by National President Anthony Forson Jnr and National Secretary Yaw Acheampong Boafo said. Ghana has been adjudged as host of the next World Trade Promotion Organisations (WTPO) Conference in 2020. Ghana submitted a bid to beat the September 26, 2018 deadline to be considered as host for the biennial conference. The announcement was made at the just-ended 12th conference in Paris, France. Ghana made a five-to-eight minute presentation at the conference to be considered as next hosts. The WTPO Conference was first held in 1996 in Cartegena in Colombia and has since been held every two years, though the 2006 edition was shifted to the following year. Former Joy FM morning show host Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has revealed that he was a card-bearing member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2012, when he moderated that year’s presidential debate for the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA). Ghana have won the bid to host the 13th edition of the All Africa Games. The Pan-African Games is a quadrennial multi-sport event under the auspices of the Africa Union, organised to foster unity among member countries. Ghana’s bid was confirmed on Thursday, October 25. The 12th edition is scheduled to be held in Casablanca, Morocco in 2019. Ghana thus have five more years to prepare to host the Games, which will feature 33 disciplines including athletics, football, boxing, badminton, gymnastics and taekwondo. The eldest son of the murdered Saudi journalist, Jamal Khashoggi, has arrived in the US from Saudi Arabia, with family members. Salah Khashoggi had previously been unable to leave Saudi Arabia due to his father’s criticism of the leadership.
