President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says in order for the African continent to meet the aspirations of the African peoples and open up opportunities for all, priority must be given to key institutions of state. The State of Israel has appointed Shani Cooper as the new Ambassador to Ghana, Liberia and Sierra Leone. Ambassador Cooper replaces Ami Mehl, who ended his term of service in July 2018. Ambassador Cooper comes to Ghana with 12 years of diplomatic experience having served in Egypt, Cyprus, Turkey and Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The West African Examinations Council (Waec) has released school results of the 2018 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). According to a press release signed by Agnes Teye-Cudjoe, the Deputy Director of Waec’s Public Affairs, on Friday, the entire results of 2,061 candidates have been withheld pending the conclusion of investigations. However, those of 83 candidates were cancelled “for bringing mobile phones into the examination hall and receiving external assistance”. One hundred and thirty-four had their subject results cancelled for bringing foreign materials into the exams centres. President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s win in last month’s polls has been upheld by Zimbabwe’s Constitutional Court. The opposition MDC Alliance had brought the legal challenge saying the vote was marred by “mammoth theft and fraud”, but this was rejected by the court.
