A High Court in Accra has placed an injunction on the upcoming congregation of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) slated for Friday. The Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC) has described as untrue accusations by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) that the voters’ register for Thursday’s by-election in the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency is not available. Emmanuel Kwame Anokye, who shot to fame as a lookalike of popular high-life musician Daddy Lumba, has passed away in India. He was battling brain tumour, which had affected his eyesight. DL Junior, as he was affectionately called though later referred to as Anokye Supremo due to a legal challenge by Lumba, died on Wednesday. He had asked for support for surgery in India. An Ivorian MP and ex-sports minister has been sentenced to one year in jail and fined $520 (£400) for spreading fake news that incited violence. Alain Lobognan had tweeted on 9 January that the state prosecutor had ordered the arrest of a fellow MP.
