Football’s world-governing body, Fifa, has given Ghana up till Monday, August 27, 2018 to withdraw a High Court suit, which has since seen the Ghana Football Association (GFA) dissolved. In a letter dated 13 August, 2018 and signed by Fifa’s Secretary General, Fatma Samoura, Ghana will be suspended if the suit is not withdrawn. “The suspension would be lifted only once the above-mentioned petition is withdrawn and FIFA is given written proof thereof.” The letter was addressed to Dr Kofi Amoah, the head of the Liaison Team set up to oversee reforms at the GFA. Kenyans on Twitter are discussing comments made by the governor of central Kiambu county about the demolition of buildings in wetland areas in the capital, Nairobi. Most people have concentrated on Ferdinand Waititu’s remarks that property built on riparian land should not be demolished – instead, owners should be allowed to redirect the flow of water. “I don’t support the ongoing demolitions. If your house is near a river, you should be allowed, at your expense, to divert it. Demolishing houses is not a solution,” Mr Waititu said in a speech. Former Minister of State in charge of Public and Private Partnership Alhaji Abdul-Rashid Pelpuo says President Nana Akufo-Addo’s directive that all appointees who want to join him should come in a bus and not use their private cars is not necessary but rather he should focus on the specific issue and bring along the ministers who are in charge of it. “I think that there are two sides to it,” he began, “first of all, is it the fact that it’s a necessity for any minister to follow the president or join him in the bus? The second one is…
Look after your body during pregnancy with these top tips from Australian pilates guru Sally Anderson, founder of Pilates International studios. This is not only important for supporting the extra weight of bub and your changing body, but leg…
Government’s spokesperson on Legal and Governance, Herbert Krapa, has rubbished suggestions that seek to place a cap on the number of ministers a sitting president could appoint. His comments follow a suggestion by the Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu, that 65 ministers are enough to run the affairs of the country. Speaking with 3FM over the weekend, Mr Krapa said denying a sitting president the number of ministers he or she would want to appoint amounts to injustice. “There is a constitution that allows the government to run an executive government, allows him to come to power based on a manifesto…
The Chief Executive Officer of the Consumer Protection Agency, Kofi Kapito, has bemoaned how event organizers in Ghana have refused to respect time and has vowed never to attend any of Kojo Antwi’s concerts. Kofi Kapito told Christian Agyei Frimpong, host of Onua FM’s Anigye Mmre, that he could recount when he attended Kojo Antwi’s concert and he refused to come early to perform to the audience who had sat in the auditorium for hours. His effusion comes in the wake of concerns that the media and Ghanaians, in general, are fond of promoting irresponsible acts, thus contributing to the…

There is chaos within the banking industry in Ghana. We have witnessed the roars of the central bank especially through its very outspoken boss, Dr. Addison in what many term as measures aimed at “streamlining our banking sector and making it more compliant with regulations”. Any attempt to make entities bounded by laws to be compliant with those laws cannot be opposed by any patriotic citizen. It is however problematic if the issues are spinned to conceal and misrepresent facts and ultimately cast a slur on the reputation of individuals who we should rather be celebrating for their contribution to…
The Accra Regional Police Command of the Ghana Police Service has launched a manhunt for a middle-aged man who shot at four of its officers on patrol duty over the weekend. Acting Public Relations Officer of the Command Victor Kofi Dosoo assured that the gunman would definitely be arrested and prosecuted. Speaking on 3FM’s Sunrise on Monday, Chief Inspector Kofi Dosoo – in narrating how the incident unfolded in Sukura – said the police stopped short of shooting at the escaping man as a result of the densely populated nature of the area. He said it all began on Saturday…
Ghana’s Black Satellites booked a ticket to join seven other African U-20 sides for the 2019 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations. Ghana’s 1-1 draw with their Beninois counterparts in Cotonou over the weekend was enough to see the national U-20 team through on a 4-2 aggregate win. Already, six teams had qualified through home-and-away encounters for the tournament to be hosted in Niger. Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Senegal and Mali are among these six. The rest are Burundi and South Africa. Ghana and Benin, thus, battled for the final spot for the eight-team tourney and it was the three-time champions who…
