The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has debunked claims that it inflated the cost of the new smart licenses. The DVLA at a press conference on Tuesday mentioned that from November, it will be introducing a vehicle documentation Smart Card to replace paper-based car registration process. The new drive is expected to reduce the human interface in the acquisition of licenses and also cut down the cost involved. Security has been tightened in Kenya as voting takes place in a re-run of the presidential election, which is being boycotted by the main opposition. Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta, who is seeking a second term, has urged people to vote and remain peaceful. Sarah Pobee has not been fortunate in attempts to be endorsed as the District Chief Executive for Ada East District Assembly as she has again failed to secure two-thirds of votes from members. Half of British women and a fifth of men have been sexually harassed at work or a place of study, a BBC survey says. Of the women who said they had been harassed, 63% said they didn’t report it to anyone, and 79% of the male victims kept it to themselves. Kenya’s Supreme Court has been hit by a shortage of judges to hear a petition calling for the cancellation of the repeat election planned for Thursday. Chief Justice David Maraga said not enough of the court’s seven judges were available to hear the case. The deputy chief justice’s bodyguard was shot by gunmen on Tuesday.
