The Ghana Police Service has warned holders of registered firearm to beware of the regulations guiding discharge. The Service observed that possessing a registered firearm must be in conformity with the Firearms Act, 1962 (Act 118). This admonition comes after the police arrested suspect Abubakari Sadick, popularly known as Cyborg, for discharging a high-calibre firearm at the AfroFuture Festival held at the El-Wak Sports Stadium. British heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua has been injured in a car crash in Nigeria, which killed two members of his team. The former world champion was a passenger in a Lexus SUV that collided with a stationary truck on a major expressway in Ogun State, near Lagos. The two men who died were Joshua’s close friends and team members Sina Ghami and Latif “Latz” Ayodele, the boxer’s promoter Matchroom Boxing said in a statement. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi, has labelled as a “joke” recent calls by the Minority in Parliament for a bi-partisan probe into the recent losses of the state’s gold-buying firm. An end-of-year report by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) indicated that GoldBod incurred losses of about GH¢3.3 billion with the Bank of Ghana absorbing the losses.
