The Minority in Parliament has joined dozens to express sympathy with families of victims of the Kintampo Waterfalls disaster that claimed 20 lives. In a statement issued on Monday, March 20, the Minority, however, warned journalists to be circumspect in posting images accompanying their reportage. A video of last Friday’s clash between students from three of Ghana’s universities that led to the stabbing of some students has emerged. Students from the Commonwealth Hall of the University of Ghana, Unity Hall of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology as well as those from the Atlantic Hall of the University of Cape Coast clashed with those at the Ogua Hall of the same University. The Bank of Ghana has expressed happiness about the performance of the latest legal tender released onto the market. Though there have been mixed responses over the new GH¢5 notes, the Bank says the effort it put into campaigning for the acceptance of the notes is yielding positive results. Mali’s Football Association (FEMAFOOT) has been suspended by Fifa until further notice over government interference in football matters. Fifa acted after Mali Sports Minister Housseïni Amion Guindo dissolved the executive committee of FEMAFOOT. Guindo has also appointed a provisional committee mandated to run FEMAFOOT and set up elections within 12 months. Fifa said the ban would be lifted only when the FEMAFOOT board and president Boubacar Baba Diarra are reinstated.
