Final year students in Kenya are reporting back to school after the government rescinded its earlier decision to scrap the academic year because of coronavirus. In primary schools, only grade four and class eight pupils will resume face to face learning from Monday. Form four students in secondary schools are also reporting back to schools to prepare for national examinations scheduled for March. Ordinarily, the final year students would have sat for the examinations at the end of this year. Many Ghanaians no longer give attention to the case count of the deadly coronavirus disease but it keeps increasing in the country. From the latest release by the Ghana Health Service (GHS), the total number of cases has gone past 47,000. The current total number since Thursday, March 12, when the country recorded its first two index cases, up to Wednesday, October 7, is 47,005. But recoveries-cum-discharges have risen exponentially, to 46,398, leaving only 301 patients with the disease. The Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) on Friday, October 9 impounded a consignment said to contain pistols illegally imported from Turkey. The ammunitions were concealed in the consignment of personal effects. They belong to one Felix Wallace, who has been arrested by the marine police. He had come to clear his 1X20 footer container of household goods and personal effects but upon a physical examination of the consignment, a pistol was found hidden in a box. 3news.com has intercepted pictures from the crime scene of the murder of the Member of Parliament for Mfantsiman Constituency in the Central Region, Ekow Kwansah Hayford. The MP was killed by suspected armed robbers on his return from campaigning in Abeadze Dominase on the Mankessim road. He was shot multiple times in his stomach. US President Donald Trump says he feels great after his Covid-19 illness, describing it as “a blessing from God”. Mr Trump returned to the Oval Office on Wednesday, officials said, less than a week after testing positive. Schools in Cameroon are re-opening with students expected to learn in shifts in overcrowded schools so as to ensure social distancing. Some students will learn in the morning while others will report to school in the afternoon.
