The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Ghana Mission Director, Andrew Karas, travelled to the Central and Western Regions from March 27-31 to meet with stakeholders and visit USAID programs and activities. Residents of Yendi in the Northern Region have revealed that the apathy toward voluntary blood donations stem from rumours about nurses at the hospital trading blood to ritualists also known in the local parlance as ‘sakawa’. Some residents who spoke to 3news.com said for fears of their blood being used for ritual purposes, they have decided never to donate blood to the hospital. The Ghana Police Service has denied receiving GH¢50,000 from the Chinese Association in Ghana for the construction of the office complex for the Police Intelligence and Professional Standard (PIPS). According to the Service, the donation was personal, from Tang Hong, the Chief Executive Officer of CAITEC Group.
