South Africa’s decision to withdraw from the International Criminal Court (ICC) has been ruled “unconstitutional and invalid” by the High Court. South Africa notified the UN of its intention to leave last October, accusing the ICC of undermining its sovereignty. But the opposition Democratic Alliance (DA) argued that the government had to first seek parliamentary approval. The court ordered the government to revoke its notice of withdrawal. Some pupils of the New Horizon Special School were over the weekend taken on mind-soothing tour initiated by Lionize Tourism Consult. Today, Tuesday, February 21, 2017, the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo  delivered his first State of the Nation Address to Parliament. In his address, the President condemned the violent attacks that occurred during the transition period, stating  such “undignified” acts must not be allowed to continue in the country. The President said such attacks must not be politicized but must be objectively dealt with. Nana Akufo-Addo promised among others that the Ghanaian economy would not collapse under his watch. Government says the over 40 power-purchasing agreements signed by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) will come under scrutiny in the days ahead. A number of these agreements may have to be cancelled, the leader of government has said. As at the end of 2016, the Company is said to have signed 43 agreements with a further 23 under discussion.
