Teachers supervising the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) have been warned to avoid aiding pupils in any form during the examination. The Eastern Regional Director of Education, Gertrude Mensah, pointed out that the rules governing all examinations must be abided by, pointing out that last year two teachers were interdicted for examination malpractice. A total of 44,749 pupils are writing the BECE in the Eastern Region. Six Arab countries including Saudi Arabia and Egypt have cut diplomatic ties with Qatar, accusing it of destabilising the region. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has planted 1000 seedlings of different species on a five-acre land at Kyebi in the Eastern Region. The Acting Executive Director of EPA, John Pwamang, explained that the exercise is to promote the planting of tress on reclaimed galamsey lands and create awareness for action in the protection of the environment towards the World Environment Day .
