A pastor at Domeabra near Pokuase in the Ga West Municipal Assembly of the Greater Accra Region has been sentenced to 20 years in prison with hard labour for defiling a 13-year-old girl. Pastor Vincent Kete pleaded guilty to defiling the daughter of his friend of 25 years. Presenting the facts in court, prosecutor Inspector Kofi Atimbiri said the accused called the victim to his room on Tuesday, February 7 and forcibly had sexual intercourse with her. Parliament has by consensus approved all the 10 regional ministerial nominees of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. The 10 were vetted over the past week from Tuesday, February 14. Report on the ten to head the country’s regions was presented by Chairman of the Appointments Committee Joseph Osei-Owusu. The ten include Dr Kwaku Owusu Afriyie (Western), Simon Osei-Mensah (Ashanti) and Eric Kwakye Darfour (Eastern). A sports editor in Belarus has kept a promise to eat his own newspaper after incorrectly predicting the fortunes of a local ice hockey team. Vyacheslav Fedorenkov, who writes for the major Belarusian sports paper Pressball, had said that Dinamo Minsk wouldn’t make it to the play-offs in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL), an international league dominated by Russian teams. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has called for prayers from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, and Ghanaians in general, in order to be a “good leader” for Ghana. Residents of Bodomase in the Kumawu Traditional Area of the Ashanti Region have clashed with a team of police and military personnel over a chieftaincy dispute. Thursday’s conflict ensued as one of the claimants to be the Kumawu Paramount seat and his supporters were prevented from participating in the final burial rites of the late Akyeampemhene of Kumawu, Oheneba Krapa Yiadom.
