Ghana’s largest vessel to convert crude oil and gas into finished products is ready to set sail in April. The vessel, which first Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel to operate in Offshore Cape Three Points, will be named after Former President John Agyekum Kufuor. The former president is in Singapore for the commissioning. The vessel is the third to be named after a former leader of Ghana after Kwame Nkrumah and John Evans Atta Mills had two named after them. The Majority in Parliament says Ghana may be fined by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for wrong figures provided by the Mahama-led National Democratic Congress (NDC) government. Minister of Education Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh has paid a visit to families of victims of the kindergarten school building that killed six pupils in Jamra in the Central Region. He also visited those on admission at the Breman Asikuma Government Hospital. Dr Prempeh promised to foot the hospital bills of the injured on admission and help in the funeral arrangements of those who lost their lives. A US court has ordered Facebook and other defendants to pay $500m (£395m) after finding they unlawfully used a firm’s virtual reality technology. The jury found Oculus, which Facebook bought in 2014, used computer code belonging to video game developer Zenimax to launch its own VR headset. Oculus said it was “disappointed” and would appeal against the ruling. The case threatened to overshadow Facebook’s latest results, which showed it enjoyed a strong end to the year. DR Congo’s main opposition leader has died in Brussels aged 84, reports say. Etienne Tshisekedi, one of the country’s most important advocates of democracy, was a prominent opponent of successive Congolese leaders. The party he helped found in 1982, the Union for Democracy and Social Progress party (UDPS), said he had travelled to Belgium last week for medical checks. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has appointed engineer Samuel Boakye-Appiah as new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG). Ing.
