Key public and private sector actors in the energy sector will convene in Accra on October 22 for the third annual Sustainable Energy Forum. It has been over 48 hours without success as divers comb through the Popon river for a four-year-old boy – dead or alive. It is sketchy what led the boy, Oswald Nartey, to the river that has overflown its banks at Torgodo, a community in the Yilo Krobo Municipaliy of the Eastern Region. A senior former politician from The Gambia has admitted to the country’s truth commission that he was responsible for the execution of soldiers accused of trying to topple the former President Yahyah Jammeh. Edward Singhateh was one of four junior officers who carried out the coup in 1994 that brought Mr Jammeh to power. Months later 11 soldiers were accused of launching a counter-coup. Mr Singateh told the truth commission that he and Mr Jammeh had agreed to execute the soldiers although he says he did not fire the shots. The items included water food items, toiletries, detergents, underwear and bathroom slippers. Members of the Ministry used the occasion to fellowship with the Church of Pentecost Inmates Assembly at the prison which has over 1,000. The Area Women’s Ministry Leader for Teshie-Nungua, Mrs Cynthia Araba Siaw Agyepong said the Ministry was interested in the welfare of the inmates because they are all precious children of God.
