The Minority in Parliament has petitioned the Commission de Surveillance de Secteur Financier (CSSF) of Luxembourg to look into the purchase of a $2.25 billion bond reportedly by a firm from the European country. According to the Minority, its investigations have revealed that Franklin Templeton, which bought majority of the 15-year and 7-year bonds, used a subsidiary Luxembourgian company to do so. Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, who made bribery allegations against the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors, Senyo Hosi, has been sued for eight million cedis in defamation damages. The outspoken MP was said to have claimed that Mr Hosi offered a one million-dollar bribe to the CEO of BOST to influence the sale of five million litres of contaminated fuel, which went to two companies, in his favour. Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has joined Turkish Super Lig side Kayserispor from United Arab Emirates’ side Al Ahli, where he has been on loan since August, 2016. Rwanda’s Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Claver Gatete has said that though African trade has witnessed remarkable growth over the last two decades, its share of global trade remains at a paltry 15 per cent. Suspected gunmen from the militant Islamist group al-Shabab have attacked a police post in Kenya’s coastal town of Lamu near the Somalia border, police confirmed to the BBC. Combined Kenyan security forces responded swiftly following a tip-off of a potential attack in the area. A fierce exchange of gunfire lasted several hours and a communication mast was destroyed, making it hard to get accurate information. Al-Shabab militants has not commented.
