Traders at the Odawna Pedestrian Shopping Mall whose stalls were demolished to make way for the construction of the Kwame Nkrumah Interchange have expressed disappointment in the government for its failure to compensate them. According to them, all efforts made during the past administration concerning the compensation proved futile. The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) at the inception of the construction demolished part of the shopping mall to allow space for the contractor to work. The scrapped allowance for teacher trainees across the country is to be restored by September this year, government has announced. US President Donald Trump has dismissed FBI director James Comey, White House says. “Today, President Donald J Trump informed FBI Director James Comey that he has been terminated and removed from office,” said a White House statement. The surprise move comes after it emerged Mr Comey gave inaccurate information about Hillary Clinton’s emails to Congress last week. Government says it has finalised plans to split the Northern Savannah Ecological Zone into two but an architect of the development of the zone has expressed fears the move would retard the development plan of the area. President Akufo-Addo’s nominee for the District Chief Executive for Garu-Tempane in the Upper East Region, Emmanuel Asore Avoka, has been given an overwhelming confirmation by the Assembly. The ‘powerful’ Chinese woman, Aisha Huen, who has allegedly been engaging in illegal mining (galamsey) in Ghana, has been remanded in prison custody with her four other compatriots whiles investigations continue.
