Yet another person has lost his life in the protracted land dispute between the people of Alavanyo and Nkonya in the Volta Region on Friday. The 43-year-old man was killed around 3pm at Alavanyo. He had stepped out to attend to a project not far from his house when the unfortunate incident happened. Some enraged residents of Somanya in the Eastern Region have attacked the regional office of the Electricity Company of Ghana over what they described as outrageous bills. The people who were incensed by the unexplained astronomical increment in electricity bills vandalised property at the ECG offices on Friday morning. The Headmistress of Saint Louis Senior High School (SHS), Mrs. Theresa Addae Commey, has hinted of possible cut down of students’ admission in the next academic year. This, she said, had been necessitated by inadequate space for effective academic work and residential accommodation. Dr Thomas Winsum Anabah, who was dismissed as the Medical Director of the Ridge Regional Hospital, has sued the government seeking five reliefs for what he termed unlawful termination of his appointment. Three Nigerian internet fraudsters who befriended many of their victims on dating sites have been handed down huge sentences by a Mississippi court after making tens of millions of dollars from their schemes. Oladimeji Seun Ayelotan, 30, was sentenced to 95 years in prison; Rasaq Aderoju Raheem, 31, was given 115 years and Femi Alexander Mewase, 45, got 25 years behind bars. FirstBanC Financial Services Ltd (FirstBanC), is expecting the reduction in policy rate from 23.5 to 22.5 percent to further boost Ghana’s economic growth.
