Russia says that chemical gas that killed and injured dozens of civilians in a rebel-held town in northern Syria came from rebel weapons on the ground. Its defence ministry acknowledged that Syrian planes had attacked the town of Khan Sheikhoun in Idlib province. The Chamber of Petroleum Consumers (COPEC) is advocating for a national transport policy as a means of regulating transport fares in the country. The call has become necessary, due to the recent hikes in petroleum prices and transport fares. Transport fares have gone up by 15 percent, after a meeting between transport unions and the transport ministry. Some economists have lauded government on the issuance of a historic 15-year bond, as part of measures to pay off some debts accrued from the issuance of short term bonds by the previous government. The finance ministry yesterday successfully issued 15 and 7-year bonds with the same coupon of 19.75%, raising a total amount of $1.13 billion. The Ghana Police Service has assured it will continue to fight illegal mining (galamsey) in the country whether it involved foreigners or Ghanaians.
