The pupils and teachers at two farming communities in the Volta Region,  Logba Abayeme and Logba Dufi in the Afadzato, have received solar lamps, exercise and text books valued at GHC9,000 to enhance teaching and learning. A passer-by tipped off police in Mexico about a dead body after finding a pair of feet poking out the top of a suitcase. The mutilated corpse had been stuffed into the blue case, which had been zipped up but the feet, wearing black socks, were still jutting out. The grisly luggage was spotted dumped next to a house in Veracruz state on Mexico’s Gulf coast. Police from the nearby town of Martinez de la Torre examined the body. The Police in Bimbilla have arrested one of those who allegedly shot and killed 10 people in last month’s chieftaincy disturbances that rocked the Nanumba North District capital. Abdulai Sang, a native of Bimbilla in the Northern Region, was arrested at about 04:00pm  at the office of the New Patriotic Party in the town after he emerged from his hideout. The official liquidator in the DKM scandal has dismissed reports that those not captured in a recently released list, would not receive their money. According to the Registrar General’s Department (official liquidator), they have been assured by PricewaterhouseCoopers, that the final list will be released by the end of March, 2017. The list in the public domain captures ten thousand names of depositors who lost their money when the company went into liquidation. The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) says results from its samples of koobi (salted dried tilapia) tested for formalin so far have not shown any presence of formalin. Lovers of koobi or salted dried fish got panic, when minister for science, technology and innovation, Professor Frimpong Boateng revealed that some of the koobi on the market were preserved with formalin. Formalin is a cancer causing chemical, used in the preservation of dead bodies.
