The Upper East Police Commander, DCOP Simon Afeku says he will liaise with the Regional Minister to find alternative accommodation for the victims of Sunday’s fire outbreak at the Navrongo Police barracks that killed a two-month-old baby. Currently, the five victims and their relatives are putting up with colleague officers. The deceased’s mother, lance corporal Rebecca Awuakye  and her five-year-old girl who are being sheltered in a senior police officers’ bungalow, are being counseled by clinical psychologist and a pastor. Former Chelsea midfielder, Michael Essien, is in talks with Croatian club HNK Rijeka over a possible move. The 34-year-old is in advanced talks with the European club as he seeks to resurrect his career. Essien has been a free agent since he was released by Greek giants Panathinaikos. Conquerors SC from Accra successfully defended their 2015/16 crown in the 2016/17 Ghana Rugby Club Championship when they beat old rivals Cosmos Buffalos by 24 to 3 at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday 18 February 2017. Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, Mahama Ayariga, says he still stands by the bribery allegation he made against the parliament’s Appointments Committee, and explained it was all based on what minority chief whip, Alhaji Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka told him. Mr Ayariga had accused the then minister-designate for Energy, Boakye Agyarko, of attempting to bribe some members of the Appointments Committee to approve his nomination.
