Basic schools across the nation re-opened on Tuesday after a relatively long vacation. Some schools had proceeded on vacation for the December 7 elections while others went on break during the period but returned to break proper for the Christmas festivities. On Monday, most pupils were seen tidying up their classrooms in time for re-open. Most of them were in classrooms on Tuesday for the start of the second term of the 2016/2017 academic year. Gambian Information Minister Sheriff Bojang has resigned to protest against President Yahya Jammeh’s refusal to accept defeat in last month’s presidential election, reports say. Google’s Waymo will launch the first public road tests of its self-driving minivans later this month. The trials will take place in California and Arizona, according to Waymo chief executive John Krafcik.
