A high court judge indicted in Ghana’s scandalous judicial corruption has initiated contempt proceedings against the country’s chief justice for her attempts to proceed with impeachment processes against him. Justice Habib Logoh was in 2015 named among 34 judges at the country’s High, District and Magistrate courts for allegedly taking bribes from litigants to compromise justice delivery in cases before the various courts. Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has arrived in Singapore for a ceremony at which the Floating Production and Storage Vessel (FPSO) to operate in the Offshore Cape Three Points (OCTP) oilfields in the Western Region, will be named in his honour. The FPSO OCTP is the first and largest vessel in Ghana to convert crude oil and gas into finished products on the same platform. And the images have a tragic undercurrent, with tens of thousands of people in the sex trade diagnosed with HIV each year, and millions dying from AIDS across Nigeria. A former Attorney General, Nii Ayikoi Otoo, has suggested none of the ministers designated for the various ministerial portfolios being vetted by the Appointments Committee of Parliament will be disqualified. He argued on 3FM’s Sunrise morning show Wednesday that the work of the Committee is a mere procedure, and lacked the wherewithal to disqualify any of the ministerial nominees, hence the public should not  put much faith in the Committee. Ghanaians are holding on to their dollars after government data showed the nation’s budget deficit was wider than expected, setting the currency on track for the weakest close since June 2015.
