The Coalition of National Youth Organizers says the 2023 budget presented by the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, was nothing but an imposition of conditionalities from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Management of the National Service Scheme (NSS) has commenced investigations into an incident which has led to the call for dismissal of one of its regional directors. The incident involves the Ashanti Regional Director of the NSS, Mr Alex Opoku-Mensah verbally abusing a nurse at the Manhyia District Hospital. According to a press release by the scheme, management has invited Mr Alex Opoku-Mensah for preliminary investigations into the incident and will in turn update the public accordingly. Angola’s Attorney-General Helder Pitta Groz has confirmed that his country has issued an arrest warrant for former President Jose Eduardo dos Santos’ daughter, Isabel dos Santos, according to reports on the Angola24Horas website and the Angop website. Mr Groz said that the Angolan authorities were working with Interpol to find Ms Dos Santos. In a major victory for faith-based doctors and hospitals, the Biden administration has chosen not to appeal a court decision from August that ruled the administration cannot force medical professionals to perform abortions and gender-transition procedures that violate their religious beliefs. The Board of Directors of the African Development Fund have approved a grant of $6.12 million to help strengthen public finance governance in low-income African countries. The funding is for Phase 2 of the Regional Institutional Support Project in Public Finance Governance (RISPFG) which will be implemented by two pan-African institutions: the African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF) and the Collaborative Africa Budget Reform Initiative (CABRI). A landslide in Cameroon’s capital, Yaoundé, has killed at least 14 people, the authorities have said. Those who died had been attending a funeral, according to the regional governor, Naseri Paul Bea.
